Student Record and Qualification Verification in China
From: CHSI

In China, there are 40 million records for students in school, and all higher education institutions register students on CHESICC’s platform.

Study record and qualification verification are provided in different forms, including personal review, individual verification, member verification, batch verification, and web service or XML.

When students apply for electronic verification report of qualification and study record, they have one-year default valid period (can be extended) for the report, in which they could freely repeatedly use it. The report has multiple versions, in print, PDF, and email and it is available in English, which makes it easy for overseas users.

For paper verification, people could verify their qualification certificates which are awarded at any time (including certificates before 1991). In addition to HEQC, study record and scores at higher education institutions, qualification of high school and scores in NCEE, and verification reports in both Chinese and English could all be given in paper verification.

There is a wide range of needs in China in using the service of study record and qualification verification, including all kinds of exams (NCEE, adult NCEE, self-taught exams, postgraduate exam, bar exam, CPA, public servant exam, etc.), student loans, student funding, graduates registering Hukou, credit cards, job application, etc. Some are through batch verification, some are through online verification. And for overseas study, when CSCSE conducts overseas degree verification, it also requires verification of qualification acquired before study abroad provided by CHESICC’s e-verification report or paper report.

CHESICC’s information service has dramatically improved China’s education credibility system. In 2012, over 70 million data were verified and nearly 3 million e-verification reports were run. Demand for e-verification reports increased by 50% in 2012, while requests for paper verification reports were stable. Over the last 10 years, the percentage of fake or unrecognized qualifications has decreased dramatically. While education credit system has improved considerably and fake qualifications have been cracked down.
